CHIPVISION’S PowerOpt SOLUTION WINS PRESTIGIOUS
EG3.COM FALL 2008 “EDITORS’ CHOICE” AWARD

Honored as One of Three Most Exciting New ESL Products;
Qualifies for eg3 Readers’ Choice Award Voting

OLDENBURG, Germany and SAN JOSE, Calif. – NOV 3, 2008

ChipVision Design Systems, the company whose patented PowerOpt™ solution reduces power consumption by up to 75% through system-level optimization, today announced PowerOpt™ has won eg3.com’s coveted Fall 2008 “Editors’ Choice” award. PowerOpt was one of only three products receiving this award in the Electronic System Level (ESL) category; ESL is one of four critical new technologies identified by eg3.com editors as the most promising in the near-term. eg3.com site visitors can cast Readers’ Choice Award votes by selecting their favorite ESL product at www.eg3.com/techchoice from now through Nov. 27, 2008.

To identify award-winning products that are imminent, practical and applicable for a broad range of real-world designs, eg3 surveyed its design audience of more than 43,000 registered subscribers worldwide; it selected PowerOpt from among approximately 1,500 submissions. According to Jason McDonald, senior editor, eg3.com, “ESL design and verification – emerging electronic design methodology that focuses on the higher abstraction level concerns first and foremost – may well be the next big thing in chip design. Our editorial staff is proud to single out the most exciting and practical new ESL products, including ChipVision’s PowerOpt, with our Editors’ Choice Tech Award. And we’re pleased that our readers can determine by their vote which new product will receive the Readers’ Choice Award.”

PowerOpt helps companies greatly reduce the power consumption of their designs to meet their power budget requirements early in the design cycle. It enables system and semiconductor developers to analyze and optimize energy dissipation at the system level in critical blocks of their design; the software automatically creates RTL code optimized for power, performance and area. This ESL approach results in significant energy and time savings – up to 75% reduction in power consumption compared to RTL designed by hand – requiring a fraction of the effort.

Craig Cochran, vice president of marketing and business development at ChipVision Design Systems, said, “ChipVision is honored to have eg3 recognize PowerOpt as one of the best new products in the emerging ESL arena. Power is one of the most significant challenges facing semiconductor designers today, and the ability to greatly reduce power at the system level is a very compelling reason to move to ESL design.”
