ChipVision Design Systems, the low-power specialist in electronic design automation, today announced the appointment of Thomas F. Blaesi as president and chief executive officer (CEO), effective December 1, 2006. Blaesi brings to ChipVision 20 years of solid electronic design automation (EDA) and semiconductor industry experience in Silicon Valley and Europe, spanning design, strategic marketing, business development and corporate management.

Thomas Blaesi is responsible for leading ChipVision as it expands its worldwide business. Previously, Blaesi served as vice president of marketing and worldwide business development at SIGMA-C until its acquisition by Synopsys last quarter. Earlier, he was vice president of marketing and business development for Pact XPP Technologies Inc., a fabless semiconductor maker and IP-licensing company in Santa Clara, Calif.; vice president of marketing and business development, and senior vice president and general manager for design services at Silicon Design Systems Inc., Cupertino, Calif.; director of business development and director of system-chip design services for Cadence Design Systems. He also held various management positions at LSI Logic, and was an application engineer for Valid Logic Systems of Munich. Mr. Blaesi holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Applied Sciences, Furtwangen, Germany.
